The Great One Is Dead = I was so psyched there was a new ST album (released in the early 2000s I think).and Brewer/Baiza are so distinctive.but I think enough time passed that it doesn't really feel like a ST record to me.decent, but I think I'm just too unfamiliar with the record to really give any commentary. There is enough of their punk roots on them to keep it interesting, but sometimes they really went of the rails(like worldbroken) and got a bit too self indulgent. I saw them in 2004 and they were horrible.

If you're interested in the true essence of what ST was about - which is a band rooted in the early 80s punk/SST scene but who were strongly interested in mixing in improvised jazz/fusion, then I'd say We Became Snakes is the peak. If that doesn't interest you, then I'd say the only ST records you would be interested in would be the Paganicons 12' (which has little, if any, jazz influence except for maybe some of Baiza's playing in spots) and the Surviving You, Always LP - which definitely does have that jazz influence creeping in - but is more on the punk side of the line than the jazz side of the line and is a record you would probably still find interesting.
