A Matrix inspired screensaver for Windows using DirectX. Can be customized to change the visual effects that occur, such as telephone trace program, falling line count, and speed. All options are set through the default windows screensaver area. A screensaver named XMatrix in XScreenSaver representing the digital rain. Earlier instances Edit. 
Code similar to that in The Matrix can be seen in an earlier movie Alien (1979, directed by Ridley Scott). There is a scene where Captain Dallas is 'talking' with Mother and the 'Matrix code' can be seen (even the word 'matrix' is written in the Mother Program main menu screen).

Rather than putting an EXE file on your desktop, The Matrix Screen Saver forces you to copy an SCR file into your Windows directory.
