Laundry manuals and free pdf instructions. Find the user manual you need for your laundry appliances and more at ManualsOnline. The same can be said for plenty of dryers—most of them are relatively uncomplicated, after all. Yet this model has two things going for it: A low price, and a paired washer that's one of the best traditional top-load machines we've ever tested. If you’re after simplicity on a tight budget, this GE is worth your attention.
I have a lower end model GE front loading stackable washer and dryer, about 6 years old. Washing machine has a small door with a deep concave porthole window, and a detergent dispenser drawer in the upper left corner as you face the machine. It recently started having a slow leak and the source of the leak seems to be coming from the detergent dispenser, although the leak is internal.
It only leaks when the machine fills or rinses, during which time some water is flushed thru the dispenser. It looks like there is no way to remove the dispenser drawer without pulling off the whole control panel. Before I do this I wanted to know if someone had seen this problem before and knew what I might be in for. I can get the model number of the machine if someone needs it, and BTW the dispenser is clean, or at least what is visible when it is opened.

Despite the partial model number, that exploded diagram is perfect because that looks exactly like my control panel and dispenser. Since the dispenser has been cleaned, if it leaks again on a test run I will remove the dryer which is stacked on top, and look into this further.

Admitedly I took a while to make the repair, but higher priority things came up. This turned out to be an easy fix and I will describe it for anyone who encounters this problem. The dryer was stacked on top of the washing machine and had to be removed. Once removed, access to everything from the topside of the washing machine was pretty good and the source of the leak was obvious. Refer to the diagram in a previous post for part numbers that I will refer to.
The leak was at seal #43, which was a dried crusty thin rubber washer that was supposed to form a seal between parts #39 and #36. The detergent drawer #3 was first removed, then it's sleeve #36 was removed. #36 is held in by two screws, some snap tabs, and at helped to remove hose clamp #33 and disconnect that hose. Also disconnect hose #37 from #36. It wasn't necessary to pull #36 completely out of the machine as that would require disconnecting another hose and some electrical connectors. All I needed to do was pull it clear so that I could remove and discard seal #43 and clean the old crusty detergent from the mating surfaces.
For the new seal I put a bead of silicone caulk on both surfaces. It was tough to get a caulking gun to everything so some had to be smeared on by hand. The silicone will make a watertight seal, but will pull apart later if other service is needed. After reassembling everything and letting the silicone cure for a few days, the washing machine was put through it's normal use, dryer still off to the side for easy leak checking, but all is well.
