Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu, popularly known as “Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War”, is a turn based strategy game for the Super Nintendo. The fourth game in the Fire Emblem series, developed by Intelligent Systems (who worked on the first four installments of the Metroid series and would later go on to create Paper Mario).
Cal's helping with co-commentary!: Project Naga's new translation patch on Serenes Forest: At last. We're here again. 7 years ago, I was on my way out of high school. I needed something to pass the time, so I decided that I wanted to get into doing Let's Plays.
I got me a headset and started doing an LP of this game, Fire Emblem: Genealogy of The Holy War. I didn't know how to make videos look or sound good or just be straight entertaining back then, but I had a plan in motion and for 157 episodes, it worked. It wad through this LP(and other factors) that I met Melissa and made many fans along the way. However times have changed and so have I(albeit not much!). I have learned much in that time and have wanted to give FE4 its fair dues all over again, as it deserves it. But there was a problem - the translation we all had was not finished! The most infamous issue with the old translation was that the Epilogue was incomplete.
The translation was unfinished and the game even softlocked at a certain point in the outro scroll! For a very long while, we went without an ending to this game. And then Project Naga happened. Free serial key. Bookofholsety had retranslated FE4's script with some help from other prominent members of the community, but he had nowhere to insert it into. The old translation tools were outdated and couldn't really handle the script inserting process, so. We rebuild it from the ground up. However, he had trouble finding someone who could fulfill the hacking role of the process.
Enter DDS, a ROM hacker who has helped with two other SNES translation - Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei and Romancing SaGa, and used his sick knowledge to crack open FE4's code and spruce up everything that had laid dormant for over a decade. Last Saturday, FE4 turned 20. Monday, the day of this recording, my bro Cal turned 24. Today, I turn 26. Now, it's time we finished this project for good. Welcome back to Jugdral, everyone.
