Hi, I have SC 7.4 running under Windows 2003 Server I run the Squeezebox Server Control Panel and select the option 'Automatically run at system start' and then I apply and get out. When I open the Panel Control again, the option is disable. When I reboot, only mysqueezesql service is started. I had no problem, with previous version running as a service. All the ports are well open on the Windows Firewall, SC works fine If I start it manually or if I start it through the option 'start at login' but there is no way to make it start 'as a service' when the system starts. I had uninstalled everything (w and w/o keeping settings).
NCC74656-WINDY (WinNT_bInstallDriver) OpenSCManager failed. Error: (exec) (SC) OpenSCManager FAILED 5: (exec) (exec) Access is denied. EDIT: If i use 'localhost' instead of server hostname than the script works. Wrapper / OpenSCManager failed - Access is denied. (0x5) I am trying to install Archiva on windows 8.1 pro (64 bit). Windows: 'OpenSCManager failed - Access is denied. (0x5)' errors when starting Nexus.
Same problem On the diagnostic page I had the infamous message other people have reported about a possible conflict with another application, but no application is listed. I tried giving the administrator/password and giving no name. Same problem. Anybody has an idea?
I'm also having a problem getting 7.4.0 and 7.4.1 to run automatically upon startup. Had no probs under 7.3 Although I was ablt to set the option, after a reboot its not running. If I now open the Control Panel, then Startup Options are greyed out, and 'Don't Start automatically' is selected. I cant see anything in particular in the logs that relates to this, but may not be looking in the right place? Final note - Im running Windows 7 64 bit, dont know if this makes a difference?
Be keen to know if anyone has managed to get this working, as its a must have feature, will have to downgrade to 7.3 if not. Anybody has an idea? Raynald Click 'Start', 'Run' and type services.msc Scroll down to 'Squeezebox Server' and double click.
(Assuming that it's there) Click the Log On tab and select this account and enter the administrator name (i.e. Domainname administrator) Enter the password twice, apply. Start the service if it isn't started already and change the startup type to automatic on the 'General' tab. Obviously you have to be logged in as the computer or domain administrator to do all this.
Worked for me as I couldn't get it going within the squeezebox control panel either. Same problem here - when I install, there is no installed 'squeezebox server' service. I tried a clean uninstall/reinstall too, running the install as admin, and it didn't help. I do have squeezecenter-mysql. Running Vista 32bit. I managed it after stopping the server in the SqueezeBox Server control panel, changing the option to run at computer start, then entering my credentials and clicking apply.
I got the error message 'Failed' ok'd that then clicked OK. I got the error message again but kept OKing till the control panel closed. The service was then installed abeit without any credentials. I then ran services as in a previous message and was able to set it to run at startup.
Hope that helps a bit more. Thanks mherger!
That worked for me. In a bit more detail: - Open command prompt using Run-As administrator - go to the squeezebox folder, i.e. For me is C: Program Files (x86) Squeezebox server> - type 'squeezesvr --install' You should get message 'squeezesvc installed as Squeezebox Server.' - if you get access denied, make sure you are running as Administrator - Run services.msc - Squeezebox Server is now listed as a service - Change service startup type from Manual to Automatic - Change credentials - I use my own user account.
It then prompts to say the account has been granted the Log In As A Service right. - reboot et voila! Service is running without logging in.
