From the description of the issue, I understand that you are unable to access the External Hard Drive. I would like to know few more details on the below questions to understand the issue better. 1.What is the make and model of the computer? 2.Which security software is installed on the computer? 3.Did you make any changes to the computer recently? 4.What is the error you get while trying to access external drive?

Please follow the below methods to ascertain the issue and see if it can be resolved. Plug in to a different usb port and check if that helps. Plug in this drive on a different pc and check if you are able to access the drive. Plug in another drive or usb flash drive on this computer and check if you are able to access the drive. Connect the device, run the hardware and devices troubleshooter and check if that helps. Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter: a) Write Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.
B) Click on Troubleshooting tab. C) Click on view all option on the upper left corner. D) Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.

Error message: I didn't get an error message. The hard drive is not recognized by the OS. I uninstalled the application and reconnected the hard drive to the USB 3.0 port to run the setup again. The hard drive does not show in File Explorer. I ran the Troubleshooter and that did not fix the problem. I checked all the USB ports and they work. I am able to use the hard drive on my other laptop that has Windows 7.
***UPDATE*** I've bought a new external hard drive. It works well with Windows 10. Make and model of computer: Dell Inspiron 15 3543 2. Security software: Windows Defender 3. • 1623 Answers SOURCE: Hello gadgeteer109.The AOD150 comes with a 160gb sata drive, so this should be a plug n play upgrade. Make sure the new drive is a notebook drive and not a desktop. You will need to install the operating system on the new drive.
If you want, you can clone the original drive to the new drive before you swap them. You can download free cloning/backup software.Acronis has a free trial offer thats easy to use.You.will also need a 2.5 SATA drive enclosure, to hold the new drive while you clone the internal one to it before transfer to your computer, (these are cheap) and guess what. You can slap your old drive in it and have even MORE external storage! What a deal huh?
The only tool you will need is a small phillips screwdriver. TIP: If you want to give the lilttle acer some rocket fuel while you have it opened up.swap out the 1GB of RAM for 2GB. A stick of Crucial 2GB 667 Mhz #CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM.will be another great plug n play upgrade for less than 25 buxs.
