Received the follow messages: 1) It hangs when trying to create a new player but if you can get around that, it runs fine. Go to a win9x system and copy the created pilot info/folder onto your win2k system. Run the game a works great. Some minor restarts from time to time but nothing major. It seems to get better the more you run it.
2) The launcher doesn't work, but if you run Rogue Squadron.exe (in the program fileslucasartsrogue directory) the game starts fine. You also have to create pilots on another machine (W98) I couldn't get my joystick to work but keyboard and mouse are fine (V5/SBlive) 3) As others have advised, get a pilot file from a Win9x machine. My joystick (CH Flightstick Pro) doesn't work, either -- and neither does my mouse (Microsoft IntelliMouse optical). Technically, the game starts and 'runs' and doesn't crash -- but, it's totally unplayable.
Finally, try running Rogue Squadron.exe directly after patching, skipping the launcher, rather than from Steam. Jul 11 @ 7:02am. This will patch the rogue.exe with a new resolution as these were hardcoded back instead of a dynamically generated list used in todays APi. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3D. Simply run the patch once it has downloaded and it will detect the games installation directory and update the files appropriately.
Operating System: Windows XP Rating: Submitted on 2001-08-01 12:00:00. The game will not install in Win7 64-bit, probably due to a 16-bit installer. If you can gather the ROGUE folder from an installation on another computer you'll still need to export the registry keys for [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC Rogue Squadron v1.0]. If that wasn't enough, the exported registry file, let's call it rogue.reg, has to be imported into [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Wow6432Node LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC Rogue Squadron v1.0] for it to work. Notice that Wow6432Node was added.
The easiest way I found to do this was to use a 32-bit file manager to import the.reg file. I used the free 'A43' file manager. Beyond that, it has the same end of level crash as reported previously.
