So what are all these buttons for? This blog has personalition features for you, the reader. Below is a key of what all the icons mean and which aspects of the layout they change.

It is also unfortunate that didn't give us any details. Most unfortunate is that you used a name that is a joke. Kind of prevents me from taking you seriously. Fortunate is that you point out that, just like on Windows XP, Vista and 7, if you modify the registry without knowing exactly what you are doing you can put your system into a state that will prevent it from booting.

I don't find any recommendations on that page that suggest setting a value in HKLM Init to use an EXE on an SD card. When setting HKLM Init, don't use exes on your SD card. If the SD card isn't yet mounted you will have a dead device. You may need to contact support for your Navi. There may be a way to reset the device to its factory settings.
