Hi, this my experience with the 26 files posted at the beginning of this thread: 1.
Firstly I downloaded all the 26 files to my Hard Drive (part 1 to part 26). I don’t know if all of them are intended to form a unique package (EUROPE) or if each one of them can work independently because each one it is related to one specific Country, for instance Part 1 for Germany, Part 2 for Spain, etc. These are the 2 countries I have more interest in). Just to avoid burning 26 DVDs for nothing, I burned only 3 of them into 3 individual DVDs (part 1, part 3, & part 10, chosen randomly). Download drivers sony vaio. My original DVD is version 4.1, from 2003. Therefore all Maps should be obsolete. Then I inserted DVD-1, with the file 'Part 1'(decompressed first with rar, of course).
In the display I read something like 'LOADING, PLEASE WAIT' 7. After a few minutes, the system was working again, but up to then I had inserted only one DVD out of 26 possible DVDs. No more DVDs were required. Then I inserted again the original DVD (version 2003). The disc is no longer recognized by the COMAND!
It became useless!! My GPS is working apparently well, I have all EUROPE maps but it is irrelevant if I insert more DVDs (Part 3 or Part 10, the other 2 DVD I burned). Nothing happens.
All three DVDs seems to be the same. I don’t know how to check which version is installed in my system now, i.e. Neither Software version nor MAPS version.
In fact I don’t know if I have installed a new software release (?) or a new version of one map for only one Country or for all Europe (?). I don’t know if the other 25 files (part 2-part 26) have anything different than the part 1. Please explain. At the end, summing up, I don’t know what I have in my system.
Is it updated? How do I check the version of the software? Do I need to use more DVDs to have the Maps for Germany and Spain updated? How do I check the installed version of the Maps? Why I cannot install back my original version 4.1?
Please clarify a little bit all the insights and the “how to” Thanks a lot!
