Hi, I want to install Tape drivers for my new AIX server which is at 5.3. Can anyone please suggest that, whether the below latest versions are supported. AIX Tips ODM Delete Command easy Step to remove a Disk odmdelete -o CuDv -q name=hdisk1 Check the status of a mksysb tape (Guessing tape drive is rmt0) chdev -l rmt0.
Fri st you need to make sure you have the Atape.driver file set installed lslpp -L grep Atape If not call IBM and ask to get it ( I could never find it and had to call) in the lib one of the tape drives has to be configured as the controlling tape drive and it has to be zoned to your master server ( I am of course assuming the drives are fiber and you are zoning them to your master and media server) then you have to create an ovpass and sm0 for the aix server to see the robot. Lsdev will show you these if you do not have and ovpass and sm0 then NB will not see the robot. It should get created when you do cfgmgr (sorry I don't have instructions on how to create it fresh for the first time if the cfgmgr does not work). How many tape drives does the TS3310 have?

I've successfully upgraded my Netbackup from 6.5.0 to 6.5.6, thanks to all guys especially MARIANNE, now my robot is automatically discovered without any errors, and inventory is also listed. Now i'm stuck in another issue.

Reason: Robotic library is down on server, Media server: bkpsrv, Robot Type(Number): TLD(0), Media ID: N/A, Drive Name: N/A, Volume Pool: iac_mail, Storage Unit: bkpsrv-hcart3-robot-tld-0, Drive Scan Host: N/A, Disk Pool: N/A, Disk Volume: N/A Now what.?????? I'm curious to start my backup on tape.pls help.
Yes Marianne i've tested the robrest with some move command and it worked beautifully. Netbackup also updates the status as we move any drive from slot to slot. Then we faced real issue. After some time the communication between library abd our server get lost. Robtest says can't establish connection and Netbackup says robotic library is down, we changed our SCSI cable and it looked like problem is solved but after approx 30 min same happened. Now i'm concerned about our scsi cabel,connector or something related to it.
